Senior Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution

A leading UK energy infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution to join their team in London on a hybrid basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of complex, high-impact energy infrastructure projects contributing to the UK's net-zero ambitions, working across HV cable systems, overhead lines (OHL), and substations.

Responsibilities for Senior Project Manager

  • Lead full project lifecycle delivery from planning and procurement through to execution and close-out
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships throughout project delivery
  • Establish and maintain a robust programme of works, managing critical path activities and key material deliveries
  • Implement effective financial controls providing full visibility of project expenditure and accurate cost reporting
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the project team to achieve milestones and objectives
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, CDM Regulations, and environmental legislation
  • Fulfil the role of Principal Designer or Client Delegated Representative under CDM where required
  • Deliver accurate project status reports including financial forecasts, SHESQ performance, and risk management data
  • Support contract administration under NEC or equivalent frameworks

Essential Requirements for Senior Project Manager

  • 7+ years' project management experience within the high voltage sector up to 400kV
  • Proven expertise in HV cable systems, overhead lines (OHL), and substations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Competent in administration of engineering contracts including NEC3/NEC4 and FIDIC
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or Asta
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Project Management qualification such as APM PMQ, PMP, or PRINCE2
  • Health and Safety certification such as SMSTS, NEBOSH, or IOSH
  • Eligibility to work in the UK with flexibility to travel

  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Membership of APM, PMI, ICE, CIOB, or RICS
  • Technical knowledge of AIS/GIS substations, protection and control, and grid compliance
