Help deliver one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes.
East West Rail is a nationally significant railway project which aims to deliver much-needed transport connections for the vibrant communities between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. Together these communities contribute around £111 billion to the national economy each year.
EWR is being championed by the Government as a key driver to economic growth leading to a potential £78 Billion boost to the UK economy: supporting new towns, housing, and regeneration.
Role Summary
We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to play a key role in the design and delivery of the new railway section between Bedford and Cambridge. This is an opportunity to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects at the heart of a nationally important programme, working with engineers, environmental specialists, delivery partners and key stakeholders to turn ambition into reality.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for driving the successful delivery of project activities across scope, schedule and budget, ensuring progress towards key programme milestones.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the planning and delivery of major infrastructure projects from design through to construction.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring effective integration across the wider East West Rail programme.
- Supporting construction planning activities and contractor procurement exercises.
- Managing project interfaces, risks, opportunities and dependencies across a complex stakeholder landscape.
- Working closely with engineering, environmental, commercial and delivery teams to drive informed decision-making.
- Monitoring programme performance and implementing mitigation strategies where required.
- Leading collaboration with suppliers, contractors, regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
- Providing clear reporting, governance and project assurance to senior leaders.

What you'll bring
You'll be an accomplished project professional with experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, transport or construction projects.
We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong project management experience across scope, schedule, cost and risk management.
- Experience delivering complex construction or infrastructure projects within demanding environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and technical disciplines.
- Experience planning and managing construction activities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- A collaborative approach combined with strong commercial awareness and sound judgement.
