SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – Formula 1

LOCATION:

Banbury, UK / International Travel

Work Setup

Hybrid, Full Time

For over 10 years, Live Wire has delivered technology, AV, and immersive experiences across Formula 1 and major live events worldwide. Supporting leading F1 teams and Formula 1 Management across all 24 races, our work spans hospitality suites, paddocks, garages, pit walls, fan zones, and factory environments.

Alongside motorsport, we deliver technical production and live event solutions across concerts, festivals, theatre, conferences, and venues including the Southbank Centre and Barbican. Based in Banbury, we are a fast-growing company working in some of the most demanding and exciting live production environments in the world.

Job Description

This is a senior leadership role requiring exceptional organisational skills, commercial awareness, operational oversight, and strong stakeholder management. You will act as a key client lead, overseeing projects from concept through to delivery while maintaining the highest standards across production, logistics, budgeting, and team coordination.

You will also play a key role in mentoring Project Managers and Coordinators, supporting cross-department collaboration, and maintaining long-term client relationships. The role requires confidence managing project scope, commercial performance, operational risk, and delivery within time-critical, high-performance environments.

Responsibilities

Project & Client Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of high-profile Formula 1 hospitality and technical production projects internationally
  • Maintain ownership of key client relationships, ensuring clear communication and exceptional service throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead project meetings, client presentations, reporting, and strategic planning discussions
  • Oversee project scope, timelines, deliverables, budgets, and operational planning across multiple concurrent projects and workstreams
  • Manage client expectations proactively, identifying risks, changes, and opportunities before escalation is required
  • Build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for account growth and additional project work
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Project Managers and Coordinators across projects

Operational & Delivery Oversight

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including production, technical, logistics, operations, suppliers, and freelancers
  • Align internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure delivery remains on schedule and to the required standard
  • Oversee international travel, freight, staffing, scheduling, and on-site operational requirements
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest operational standards
  • Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation and contingency plans to minimise operational and commercial impact

Technical & Production Management

  • Apply strong AV and technical production knowledge to support project planning and delivery
  • Work closely with technical and production teams on system design, equipment selection, and implementation
  • Conduct venue and site assessments where required
  • Support quality assurance across project delivery and technical execution

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
  • Monitor profitability and implement cost control measures where necessary
  • Oversee project scope changes, ensuring impacts on budget, timelines, delivery, and commercial performance are effectively managed
  • Manage supplier relationships, quotations, and commercial negotiations
  • Review project financial performance regularly and take corrective action where required to maintain margin and delivery standards

Stakeholder & Team Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, suppliers, and strategic client contacts
  • Influence and coordinate stakeholders across multiple departments and operational teams
  • Support the development of internal processes, delivery standards, and project management best practices
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth and capability of the wider Projects team

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in senior project management roles within live events, technical production, AV, motorsport, Formula 1, or agency environments
  • Proven experience managing complex international projects and high-profile clients
  • Strong understanding of AV systems, production workflows, logistics, and live event operations
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, operational logistics, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects within fast-paced, time-critical environments
  • Ability to make decisions confidently under pressure while maintaining delivery standards and client relationships
  • Willingness and availability for international travel

Desirable

  • Experience within Formula 1, motorsport, or international sporting events
  • Experience with large-scale hospitality environments, broadcast, or live production
  • Familiarity with project management, scheduling, or resource planning software
  • Experience working within agency-led delivery or client service environments
