Senior Project Manager – ICP Substations

Yorkshire (Hybrid)

Permanent & Full Time

Salary (DOE) + Car Allowance & Flexible Benefits

Summary:

Freedom is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager into the Power Projects division to deliver a specific Build 132kV/33kV EHV/HV Substation project in the Yorkshire (Harrogate) region.

The role will require the candidate to be able to travel to the construction site near Harrogate (Yorkshire) on a regular basis several times per week minimum.

Key Deliverables:

  • This is a flagship scheme for a high-profile client, and the role comes with the associated complexity and professional challenges to be expected of a major scheme.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of this package, reporting to the Head of Operations.
  • They will need to deliver the project work safely, competently, and effectively to time and budget, balancing all aspects of cost, programme, quality, and safety in line with expected Freedom standards.
  • The successful candidate will be a commercially and process astute Senior Project Manager, able to proactively identify commercial, programme, and engineering risk and opportunities, to protect and benefit the business. It is essential that individual has a driven attitude, is comfortable needing to be highly proactive, driven operating with a degree of independence, and managing a range of individual specialists and subcontractors across the breadth of the scheme to ensure overall success.
  • Support from the wider team, line management, and Head of Operations will be provided. It is also essential that the individual can demonstrate they are diligent and organised with project deliverables and project management products to ensure a high level of professionalism and quality is maintained.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with ICP Substation project, particularly those for Northern Powergrid (NPg) region is highly favourable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, specifically in the field of 132KV substation projects and renewables.
  • Fluency in CDM is essential
  • You will be Client facing and hence the ability to successfully manage important client relationships, as well as your internal teams and supply chain, is essential.
  • Proven track record in Design and Build of 132kV Substations is essential, preferably in line with adoptable DNO Standards.
  • Experience of 66kV or 33kV schemes will also be considered if the candidate can demonstrate the schemes are suitably complex.
  • The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience in Contract/Project Management of HV/EHV engineering schemes with a focus on owning and tightly managing programmes, budgets, scope change, and quality.
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrable experience of NEC Contracts is highly desirable
  • The ability to co-ordinate (with the support of your team) designers, consultants, surveyors, construction teams/supply chain and suppliers throughout the feasibility, design, and construction stages.
  • Ability to provide strong industry references is key
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Project Management, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, substations, and renewable energy technologies.
