Senior Project Manager

Location: Stevenage

Salary: Circa £50,000–£56,000 depending on experience

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week onsite

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Project Manager to join a leading defence engineering organisation, supporting the delivery of advanced and strategically important defence programmes.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a complex, international environment, leading projects and working closely with engineering, manufacturing, commercial and programme teams to deliver critical customer capability.

The opportunity:

  • Lead projects within a complex and changing defence environment
  • Manage project delivery against cost, schedule and performance objectives
  • Work across a diverse, multidisciplinary and international organisation
  • Develop strong partner and stakeholder management skills
  • Manage project risks and opportunities
  • Support bidding, estimating and project planning activities
  • Apply EVM, schedule management and schedule risk assessment techniques
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives
  • Lead and motivate project teams to deliver against challenging requirements
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

What we're looking for from you:

  • Project or Programme Management experience, ideally within a matrix organisation
  • Strong risk management skills and experience
  • Experience managing projects from a business and delivery perspective
  • Knowledge of EVM, schedule adherence and schedule risk assessment
  • Bidding and estimating experience
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships across multiple levels
  • Sound business judgement and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to embrace new challenges and work effectively within a changing environment
  • Experience leading and motivating project teams
