About The Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead impactful Research and Development (R&D) projects for their cutting-edge facility in Oxford. This role is crucial for driving innovation from concept to viable product, managing complex scientific and technical initiatives. You will collaborate with world-class researchers, engineers, and external partners, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet rigorous scientific and commercial objectives. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in a leading scientific hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex R&D projects, from initial ideation through to prototype development and validation.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring optimal utilization and adherence to project milestones.
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication among R&D teams, cross-functional departments, and external research partners.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, particularly those inherent in early-stage research and development.
  • Ensure adherence to scientific standards, intellectual property guidelines, and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with a strong emphasis on R&D or technical project delivery, ideally within a scientific or technology-driven industry.
  • Solid understanding of research methodologies and the innovation lifecycle.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management and budget control for complex, innovation-focused projects.
  • A relevant scientific or engineering degree is highly preferred.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is advantageous.
