Senior Project Manager
Location: National
Salary: £85,000 + Car and Package
Sector: HVAC/M&E/Building Services
You will run a live portfolio worth £3m to £6m a year. Individual projects from £50k to £1m, most of them landing between £100k and £200k. Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, water treatment, and fabric, self-delivered by our clients' teams rather than passed down a supply chain.
Our client wants somebody who can build a project management layer underneath them. Regional managers who are already good and are not yet finished. The job is to raise them. Sit in on their client meetings. Show them what a proper cost value reconciliation looks like on a job that is drifting. Walk them through their first contested final account. Then step back and let them run it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
That is the difference between managing projects and growing the capability of a group.
What you will need:
- A track record safely delivering M&E or technical services projects to time, cost, and quality.
- Project P&L and cost value reconciliation ownership, not programme management alone.
- Real command of NEC and JCT, variations, valuations, applications, and final accounts.
- Pricing, estimating, and tendering experience. Able to win work, not only deliver it.
- SMSTS, CSCS at manager level, CDM 2015, and a working understanding of F10.
- Full UK driving licence and comfortable on a national patch.
