Job Description

The SPM is responsible for leading the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of a significant section of the project, ensuring that project objectives are achieved in line with contractual, commercial and programme requirements.

The role provides leadership across multidisciplinary teams, driving collaboration between engineering, construction, commercial, planning, Temporary Works, Supply chain and Client stakeholders. The SPM will ensure delivery is undertaken in accordance with the NEC4 contract, CDM regulations, nuclear Site License Conditions (SLCs) and Costain governance requirements.

The individual will act as the focal point for day-to-day project delivery, proactively managing risks and opportunities, resolving issues before they impact the programme and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, high performance and accountability.

Please note: This role requires a minimum of 3 days working from the Trawsfynydd site. The role suits someone with experience working as a main contractor and who has construction management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the project is delivered safely, within Budget, on programme and to the required Quality
  • Managing a dedicated professional team integrated with the Client’s team
  • Ownership of the packages and disciplines
  • Delivering to budget and production targets, programme, and specification
  • Owning the relationship and maintain a liaison with the client and the supply chain
  • Supporting the manager and the staff under your control
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the Client and associated personnel
  • Being conversant with all drawings, specifications, and relevant information for works package

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Awareness of NEC Form of Contract and Subcontract
  • Understanding of Engineering Principles
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
  • Significant work experience within a similar role with a main contractor in a highly regulated environment

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a M&E or Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
  • Relevant CSCS Card
