*Senior Project Manager – Pharmaceutical Sector
(German Focused Role)

The Opportunity
We are supporting a global pharmaceutical client based in Germany with their asset management strategy. Since opening our dedicated Frankfurt office in 2003, Mace has experienced constant growth in the German market.
Working in partnership with local developers and multinational corporations, our team specialises in:
- Project management
- Construction
- Facilities management
- Preconstruction and technical due diligence
This role requires collaboration with the client’s team to ensure safety, adherence to budgets, and project completion on agreed timelines. You’ll work closely with architects, surveyors, and other building professionals to oversee every stage of the build.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Relationship management: Establishing and maintaining key connections with clients and stakeholders.
- Communication: Setting up clear, regular communication channels to address issues promptly.
- Meetings: Chairing weekly progress meetings, reporting on project and commercial progress.
- Contractor management: Overseeing contractor activities on-site, bringing in additional support as needed.
- Team leadership: Managing and developing the team to meet objectives, ensuring support, motivation, and resource optimisation.
- Processes: Defining and monitoring appropriate project systems and operating procedures.
- Safety compliance: Ensuring adherence to safe working practices for all site personnel.
- Stakeholder engagement: Keeping subject matter experts and users updated and involved throughout the project.
- Closure management: Ensuring close-out and practical completion schedules are completed and issued.
- Representation: Acting as an ambassador for Mace in all professional dealings.
- Financial oversight: Providing timely financial reports (forecasts, budgets, fees, etc.).

Requirements
To excel in this role, you will need:
- A relevant degree qualification and membership in a professional institute.
- Previous experience in a similar project management or construction leadership role.
- Pharmaceutical sector project experience (preferred).
- Understanding of the built environment and construction lifecycle.
- Knowledge of German HOAI (Honorarordnung für Architekten und Ingenieure) phases and VOB (Vergabe- und Vertragsordnung für Bauleistungen) contract procedures.
- A track record of managing clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of the German legal framework, including:
- Health and safety regulations
- Contraction law (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch - BGB)
- VOB contract compliance
- Environment and building regulations
- Expertise in key project processes, including:
- Design principles and project management
- Construction processes
- Procurement and tendering strategies
- Digital proficiency and strong people management skills (building motivated teams).
- Experience in the pharmaceutical sector and a growth mindset for career development.
