Senior Project Manager/ Specialist Surveyor

Industry: Property Management/ Construction

Location: Isle of Wight

Hours: 39 hours per week (8am - 5pm, Mon- Thu, 8am - 1pm Fri. occasional Saturday morning working may be required with time off in lieu)

Days: Monday - Friday (occasional Saturday morning working may be required with time off in lieu)

Duration: Permanent

Duties:

  • Lead complex construction, refurbishment, maintenance and compliance projects from feasibility and briefing through procurement, delivery, handover and close-out.
  • Act as the principal client contact, coordinating consultants, contractors, internal teams and other stakeholders to maintain momentum, accountability and clear decision-making.
  • Prepare and manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers, scopes, specifications, tender information, progress reports and governance records.
  • Undertake specialist building inspections, condition surveys, defect investigations and compliance reviews across residential, commercial, public and community assets.
  • Identify fire safety, health and safety, building fabric, mechanical, electrical and operational risks, setting out clear priorities and practical remedial actions.
  • Provide competent safety management input to project teams, including review of risk assessments and method statements, permit arrangements, contractor controls and safe systems of work.
  • Advise clients and design teams on fire safety strategy, passive fire protection, compartmentation, fire doors, means of escape and the coordination of safety requirements within design and delivery.
  • Support duties arising from the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, the Building Safety Act and other relevant property, construction and fire safety requirements.
  • Oversee planned and reactive works, lifecycle priorities and compliance programmes, using survey and asset information to support investment decisions.

Experience:

  • Substantial experience in senior project management, surveying, building safety, facilities management, construction management or a closely related technical discipline.
  • A strong record of taking projects from initial investigation and option development through delivery, commissioning and completion.
  • Practical knowledge of construction technology, building services, defects, maintenance, compliance and risk management.
  • Confidence undertaking site inspections, reviewing technical information and converting findings into clear, prioritised and proportionate recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors within live, occupied or operational environments.
  • Sound understanding of project governance, quality assurance, commercial awareness, programme control and stakeholder reporting.
  • Excellent written communication, professional judgement and the ability to explain complex safety or technical issues in plain language.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively where safety, quality or compliance may be compromised.
  • A relevant professional qualification, technical accreditation or demonstrable equivalent experience.
