Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join a major civil engineering project, taking responsibility for the engineering, quality, and technical delivery of specialist piling and ground engineering works.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong experience in rotary bored piling, CFA piling, and/or pile load testing to take a key role within an established project team.
The Role
Working closely with the Project Manager and Construction Supervisor, you will provide engineering oversight of the works, ensuring they are delivered safely and in accordance with the required design, quality, and contractual standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing engineering oversight for piling and ground engineering activities
- Ensuring construction complies with design information and quality requirements
- Monitoring and evaluating variations in ground conditions
- Producing and maintaining method statements, risk assessments, and ITPs
- Managing temporary works compliance
- Raising, reviewing, and closing out non-conformance reports
- Preparing and completing lift plans
- Managing rig instrumentation records and producing production graphs
- Producing and maintaining accurate as-built drawings and site records
- Liaising with designers regarding variations and technical queries
- Working closely with the Construction Supervisor to ensure works are properly planned and safely executed
- Liaising with clients, engineers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders
- Maintaining daily diaries and detailed project records
- Attending and contributing to weekly progress meetings
- Coordinating with the Project Manager and site team to ensure appropriate resources are available
- Supporting procurement and liaison with suppliers
- Driving improvements in production, quality, and site performance

Commercial & Contractual Responsibilities
You will also support the commercial management of the project, including:
- Understanding the tender, contract, and associated project requirements
- Working closely with the commercial team regarding contractual documentation and project records
- Maintaining accurate records of changes and variations to the works
- Supporting the preparation and management of the project cost plan
- Managing early warnings and compensation events alongside the Project Manager
- Assisting with general contract administration
About You
We are looking for candidates with:
- Previous experience delivering piling and/or ground engineering projects
- Experience with Rotary Bored Piling, CFA piling, and/or Pile Load Testing
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles
- Good technical knowledge of construction techniques and industry best practice
- Experience of site quality control and temporary works procedures
- Strong health, safety, and environmental awareness
- Good IT skills and experience using standard construction/project software
- Relevant CSCS card
- A valid safety-critical medical fitness certificate
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, designers, commercial teams, and site management
- Previous experience working for a specialist piling or ground engineering contractor would be particularly advantageous.
