Job Title: Senior Project Planner

Location: Manchester
Contract Duration: 12 Months

Overview

Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Planner based in Manchester on a 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules and associated documentation. This role will involve preparing and maintaining schedules for either large-scale projects or a portfolio of modification projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and implement the Company Safety Policy and applicable Safety Management System requirements relating to the Planning function.
  • Promote effective working relationships within the Project Controls team, other project departments, and client representatives.
  • Ensure all planning activities are performed in accordance with corporate and project-specific procedures.
  • Develop project plans based on estimates, CTRs, and information provided by the project team.
  • Code activities and apply logic links to enable effective schedule analysis.
  • Review baseline dates against actual progress and update schedules accordingly.
  • Monitor, control, and guide the day-to-day activities of the Planning team.
  • Standardise the production of robust, resource-loaded baseline project schedules.
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of data within integrated project control systems.
  • Issue updated schedules and associated documentation accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with the Client Planner on all relevant planning matters.
  • Interface regularly with the Project Controls Manager and Contract Manager.
  • Ensure Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Controls Managers are aware of planning issues and schedule risks.
  • Utilise industry-standard planning, reporting, and project controls tools effectively.
  • Work closely with the Risk Team to support project risk analysis and schedule assessments.

Essential

  • HNC (or equivalent qualification)
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6

Desirable

  • Degree qualification
  • Level 3 QCF in Planning / Project Controls

Experience

Essential

  • Previous planning experience with responsibility for a large project or a significant sub-element of a major project.
  • Specialist knowledge of project control systems, particularly Primavera P6.

Desirable

  • Extensive experience within the offshore oil & gas, downstream petrochemical, nuclear, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of various electronic project control applications.
  • Experience writing, implementing, and maintaining departmental procedures.
