Job Title: Senior Project Planner
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: Monday-Friday (hybrid working 3 in office/2 work from home)
Sponsorship Provided: No
Location: Stockport, Manchester
This opportunity sits within a global EPC contractor supporting the energy transition, with a focus on consulting services across the full asset lifecycle and next generation project delivery and execution services. The role is centred on developing, maintaining and monitoring schedules and associated planning documents for large projects or a portfolio of modification projects. This position will suit candidates with strong Primavera P6 capability and established project controls experience in complex technical delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules and associated planning documentation.
- Prepare and maintain schedules for large projects or a portfolio of modification projects.
- Read, understand and implement the company safety policy and relevant safety management system requirements in relation to planning activities.
- Promote effective working relationships across project controls teams, project departments and client representatives.
- Ensure planning activities are carried out in compliance with corporate and project-specific procedures.
- Develop plans based on estimates, CTRs and input from the wider project team.
- Code activities and apply logic links to enable schedule time analysis.
- Review baseline dates against actual dates within project schedules.
- Control, monitor and guide day-to-day planning team activities.
- Standardise the production of resourced and robust baseline project schedules.
- Maintain the required quality of data across integrated project systems.
- Issue updated plans and associated documents accurately and at agreed intervals.
- Liaise with the client planner on relevant planning matters.
- Interface regularly with the project controls and contract management function.
- Ensure key project stakeholders are kept informed of planning issues.
- Work with the risk team on plans that require risk analysis.

Required Education & Certifications
- HNC or equivalent (Required)
Required Experience
- Previous planning experience with responsibility for a large project or a large sub-element of a major project.
Required Skills
- Specialist knowledge of project control systems, including Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of industry standard planning, reporting and project controls tools.
- Ability to develop schedules from estimates, CTRs and project team input.
- Capability to perform schedule coding, logic linking and time analysis.
- Experience monitoring baseline versus actual progress within project schedules.
- Ability to guide planning activities and support planning team delivery.
- Experience producing resourced baseline project schedules.
- Ability to maintain planning data quality across integrated systems.

Preferred Education & Certifications
- Degree (Preferred)
- Level 3 QCF in Planning / Project Controls (Preferred)
Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive working knowledge of the offshore oil and gas industry, downstream petrochemical industry, nuclear or renewables.
- Knowledge of various electronic project control applications.
- Experience writing and maintaining departmental procedures.
