Senior Project Quality Engineer
Contract: 6 Months Initially
Hours: 37 per week
Working Pattern: On-site, 5 days per week
Start: ASAP
The Opportunity
A new manufacturing facility is being established to support the growth of a high-integrity engineering business. With production planned for early next year and ISO 9001 certification required before launch, this role will be instrumental in building the site's quality framework from the ground up.
Working closely with the Head of Quality, you will establish the Quality Management System (QMS), implement manufacturing quality controls, support production readiness, and lead ISO 9001 accreditation activities.
This is an ideal opportunity for a quality professional with strong automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience who has successfully supported site start-ups, NPI programmes, and production launches.
Key Experience Required
- Automotive or high-volume manufacturing background
- Strong knowledge of NPI, APQP and PPAP
- Manufacturing process development and validation
- Process mapping, standardisation and work instruction development
- Production launch and industrialisation experience
- Quality Management System implementation and improvement
- ISO 9001 audit and certification experience
- Root cause analysis, CAPA and continuous improvement methodologies

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the site's QMS and QA/QC framework
- Create quality procedures, work instructions, control plans and inspection strategies
- Lead ISO 9001 certification and audit readiness activities
- Support NPI, APQP and PPAP activities across the product lifecycle
- Develop PFMEAs, process flows, control plans and quality documentation
- Establish non-conformance, CAPA and traceability systems
- Support manufacturing readiness and production launch activities
- Train and mentor teams on quality standards and processes
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma and structured problem-solving tools
- Promote a right-first-time quality culture across operations
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent
- Nuclear Experience
- Proven experience implementing or improving QMS frameworks
- Strong APQP, PPAP, PFMEA and control plan knowledge
- Experience writing quality procedures and manufacturing documentation
- Lead/Internal Auditor qualification preferred
- Experience managing NCRs, CAPAs and root cause investigations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable
- ISO 19443, ISO 3834 or EN1090 knowledge
- CSWIP, PCN or equivalent qualifications
- CQI membership
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing facilities
