Senior Proposal Specialist
The Senior Proposal Specialist will assist the BD team on the preparation of proposal responses associated with high priority, high complexity business development opportunities and will work closely and often independently with the clinical subject matter experts to create customized, comprehensive responses and budgets for Sponsors. This person will support the BD team in internal and external client calls/meetings to support budget reviews and questions and provide strategic input on budgeting approaches.
Proposal and SOW Development (30-40%)
- Understand and share proposal requirements thoroughly
- Work with multiple internal stakeholders to develop proposal content in line with RFP/RFI
- Summarize and prepare (with support of internal stakeholders) key information required to support preparation of proposal responses
- Document all assumptions
- Review and ensure the final proposal meets Sponsor expectations and a high standard of quality
- Assist in maintaining proposal tools – templates, graphics, experience tables etc
- Assist BD Manager on RFIs
- Support Statement of Work (SOW) development
Costing Support (40-50%)
- Generate initial costing assumptions
- Generate/populate initial CRO costings in Alimentiv tools then work with clinical experts to refine and finalize
- Obtain pre-award budgets from vendor and site partners.
- Ensure rolled up costing is correct prior to sending for executive review
- Support amendments or updates during the process.
- Thoroughly understand final costing and be able to explain to either internal or external stakeholders
- Support the project team with change orders

General BD Support and Special Projects (10-20%)
- Attend and facilitate internal bid/no bid, strategy, and project hand-off meetings for awarded projects/sponsors. Some occasional support for bid defenses
- Provide support to BD Managers with presentations and attend client meetings as needed
- Support internal project teams related to client or contract issues, questions etc
- Coordinate with clinical team, site feasibility if required
- Provide feedback and/or develop BD tools to ensure continuous improvement
- Generate BD reports as needed
- May be asked to attend conferences to provide booth and meeting support.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 - 3 years of related experience (4 - 6 years of related experience preferred)
- Minimum Post-secondary certificate / diploma (College, Training Institute, etc.) (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Fluent in English (Verbal and Written)
- Experience with budget development within a CRO, clinical trials or a similar regulated/complex environment is highly desirable
Additional knowledge/skills
- Science degree/diploma preferred
- Previous budget building experience in CRO and clinical trials mandatory
- Advanced user ability with Excel and proficient with other MS Office tools
- High degree of detail orientation
- Logical and process thinking mindset
- Good written and verbal communication skills and project management skills
