Senior Protection Consultant

An exciting new opportunity, Marsh Health and Benefits (MHB) is looking for a dynamic Senior Protection Consultant to lead, develop and manage a portfolio of complex clients, providing strategic advice and expert consulting across protection benefits. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a portfolio of high profile clients, whilst playing a key role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

This exciting opportunity is based in our London, Birmingham, Bristol or Chichester offices, with a flexible hybrid working model requiring at least three days per week in the office or visiting clients.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage and develop strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring exceptional service, high retention, and outstanding client satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic consultancy across protection and wider employee benefits solutions, tailoring advice to each client’s objectives and workforce needs.
  • Lead policy and scheme reviews, delivering clear, commercially focused recommendations that support client people and business priorities.
  • Oversee renewal activity to ensure a smooth, compliant, and well-coordinated process from start to finish.
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities through networking, existing client relationships, tenders, and client presentations.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of complex protection clients, delivering high-quality advice, ongoing service, and strong commercial performance.
  • Work proactively with internal colleagues across Marsh to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong provider relationships, with a sound understanding of the protection market and emerging developments.
  • Stay up to date with market trends, legislation, and regulatory changes to ensure advice remains current and relevant.
  • Support the growth of the Corporate Protection portfolio by expanding existing relationships and broadening service delivery.

What you need to have:

  • In depth Protection knowledge is essential with experience working with large complex clients
  • Financial and Commercial acumen (including fee and contract negotiation skills)
  • Experience of delivering growth in new business and portfolio value
  • High levels of retention and client satisfaction
  • Consulting and relationship management skills
  • Technical, product and process knowledge
  • Inter-personal, communication and time management skills
  • Smooth and compliant renewal delivery
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
