This is an exciting time to be working in public health intelligence, as we innovate with data science approaches, migrate to Google Cloud Platform, support the recovery of the population of Wales from the Covid-19 pandemic, and analyse the impact of the cost of living crisis on health and wellbeing.
The Analysis Team provides intelligence on the population of Wales using a wide range of data on health, wellbeing and its determinants to help inform improvement in population health; ensure that health services align with need; and reduce health inequalities.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the development of Analysts within the team through both line management and the provision of in-house training and advice.
- Work with other team members to contribute to and lead the development of public health intelligence products such as reports and dashboards.
- Apply a range of specialist statistical and analytical techniques to interpret complex public health data, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with the Code of Practice for Statistics.
- Lead projects that collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality reports, dashboards, and data visualisations that inform decision-making and improve population health outcomes.
- Engage with users to understand their data needs, translating them into actionable insights through reproducible analytical pipelines and evidence-based recommendations.
- Undertake project management roles and/or management of staff.
