About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Public Health Team as a Senior Public Health Officer (Sexual Health). In this role, you'll lead and support a broad range of work focused on sexual health, reproductive health, HIV prevention and women's health, helping to improve outcomes for residents and reduce health inequalities across Hounslow.

You'll use public health intelligence, epidemiological evidence and stakeholder insight to inform commissioning, service improvement and strategic decision-making. Working closely with commissioned providers, NHS partners, the Integrated Care Board and community organisations, you'll help ensure local services are responsive to population need and deliver high-quality outcomes.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in public health commissioning, service redesign, population health intelligence, contract management and partnership working, while contributing to some of the most important prevention and inequality agendas in public health.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The Public Health Team sits within the Commissioning Directorate and works across the council and wider health and care system to improve the health and wellbeing of Hounslow residents. Our work focuses on prevention, reducing health inequalities and ensuring that residents can access high-quality services that support healthier lives.

You will be part of a friendly, ambitious and supportive team with responsibility for a wide range of public health programmes. The post reports to the Senior Public Health Strategist for Children & Young People and Sexual Health and works closely with colleagues across Public Health, NHS providers, the West & Central London Integrated Care Board, UKHSA, OHID and local community organisations.

About You

  • You must have experience working in the UK public health, healthcare commissioning, health improvement or a related field, with knowledge of sexual health, reproductive health, HIV prevention or women's health.
  • You will have a proven understanding of the UK Health system and track record of employment in roles that match the expectations of this post alongside a degree in a health discipline.
  • You are confident using data, public health intelligence and evidence to understand population need, identify inequalities and support service improvement.
  • You can build effective relationships and work collaboratively with a range of partners including healthcare providers, local authorities, community organisations and residents.
  • You have experience managing projects, supporting service development or delivering programmes that improve health outcomes.
  • You can communicate complex information clearly through reports, presentations and discussions with different audiences.
  • You are motivated by reducing inequalities and improving sexual, reproductive and women's health outcomes for local communities.
