Job Description: Senior Publicist

Company: Hound

Job Title: Senior Publicist

Reporting To: Neville Wilson (Editorial Director)

Location: Hybrid

Contract: Full-time

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About Hound

Hound is an independent PR agency that helps clients out-think, not out-spend, their competition.

We’re small but mighty, giving clients direct access to senior talent and the ability to move fast. Our team combines the strategic thinking and creative firepower of PR leaders from some of the world’s most influential brands plus the sharp instincts of editor-level ex-journalists.

We bring newsroom pace and corporate know-how together, helping clients tackle their biggest challenges and telling stories that drive meaningful results.

We work with big names like Vodafone, Ryvita, Well Pharmacy and Purplebricks to fast-growing challenger brands.

Hard-working. Tenacious. No egos. No jargon. That’s us.

About the Role

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Publicist to help lead our editorial output.

This is not a traditional PR role. We want someone who has lived and breathed a newsroom environment, knows what makes journalists tick and what a story is.

Ideally, you’ll be a current or former national or regional journalist with extensive reporting experience and a proven track record as a News Editor or senior newsroom leader.

You’ll identify stories others miss, turn complex client information into irresistible headlines and deliver high-quality copy at speed. Then use your network of media contacts to secure exceptional coverage across national, regional, consumer, business and trade titles.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
