As the platform continues to expand at pace, we are building a dedicated finance team in Manchester and are looking for capable, driven individuals who are eager to grow alongside the business.
Our Current Requirement
We are currently seeking a Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our growing finance team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the purchase ledger in a fast-paced, thriving business at an exciting stage of its growth, with genuine opportunities for professional development and the chance to help shape processes as the portfolio expands.
In this role, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end purchase ledger across multiple companies and sites, overseeing the work of the Purchase Ledger Clerk and ensuring invoices are processed accurately and on time. You will manage the purchase order process with site and operations teams, review the coding and approval of invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and resolve supplier queries promptly. You will prepare weekly and monthly payment runs for approval, set up new suppliers and verify bank details in line with our controls, and maintain a clean, well-controlled ledger with robust audit trails.

You will support month-end by preparing purchase ledger reconciliations, aged creditor reports, and information for accruals, and work closely with the Management Accountant on VAT and, where relevant, CIS for refurbishment and maintenance works. You will play a key role in the move to Sage Intacct, helping to design efficient, scalable accounts payable processes, and in bringing the suppliers of newly acquired sites onto our systems. In addition, you will provide broader support to the Finance Manager and the wider finance team as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have substantial purchase ledger experience in a high-volume, multi-entity, or multi-site environment, ideally within property, lettings, or construction. You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be confident working with suppliers, site teams, and colleagues across the business. You will be highly organized, able to manage deadlines and competing priorities, and comfortable supporting and guiding a junior team member. Excellent attention to detail, a strong understanding of controls, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach are key to success in this role.

Skills/Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior purchase ledger or accounts payable role
- Experience of purchase ledger across multiple companies or sites
- Skilled in purchase orders, invoice matching, coding, and approvals
- Supplier statement reconciliations and query resolution
- Preparing payment runs and supplier set-up with strong payment controls
- Purchase ledger month-end reconciliations and accruals support
- Working knowledge of VAT; experience of CIS would be advantageous
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience of Sage Intacct, StarRez, or a similar cloud accounting system desirable
- Experience of supervising or supporting junior team members
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Experience in student accommodation, lettings, property, or construction preferred
Salary: £32,000 to £34,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, office-based.
