Senior Python AI Engineer
We're looking for an experienced Senior Python AI Engineer to join a cutting-edge programme focused on transforming how investment professionals prepare for client engagements. Working within a high-profile initiative, you will help build an advanced AI-powered solution that generates investment insights from sales and research materials. Leveraging Agentic AI, LLMs, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), the platform will dramatically reduce preparation time for client meetings while improving the quality and relevance of investment recommendations. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI innovation, building production-grade systems that deliver real business value within the financial services sector.
The Role
As a Senior Python AI Engineer, you will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, business analysts, and development teams to design and deliver intelligent AI solutions. You'll play a key role in shaping the architecture, developing scalable backend services, integrating LLM technologies, and driving engineering best practices across the software development lifecycle. You will also provide technical leadership, contribute to architectural decisions, and help evolve the platform as new capabilities and requirements emerge.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance AI-driven applications using Python and modern cloud technologies.
- Collaborate closely with business teams, architects, and analysts to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Build and maintain production-grade APIs and backend services.
- Develop Agentic AI workflows capable of generating high-value investment insights.
- Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Integrate and optimise Large Language Models (LLMs), including commercial and open-source solutions.
- Drive technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Perform code reviews, design reviews, and unit testing activities.
- Identify opportunities for code optimisation, process improvements, and system enhancements.
- Support CI/CD, deployment automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Contribute to development standards, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, content specialists, and business stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
