About Rare

We empower our clients to navigate and capitalise on commercial opportunities within the healthcare market. Our expertise spans pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, healthcare providers, and investors, helping them make informed, strategic decisions with confidence.

We provide up-to-date, accurate data through our proprietary Rare SaaS products, enabling our customers to target previously invisible prospects, grow market share, and launch new products. We also deliver high-value bespoke market intelligence that brings clarity to the market. Our analysis lets providers monitor industry trends, assess market demand, and make data-driven decisions that improve their positioning and patient engagement.

Working for Rare

We're a small consultancy and SaaS startup of around fifteen people, all working remotely with monthly/quarterly meetups where possible. We're primarily distributed across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and a growing delivery team in Paraguay. Our culture has a flat structure where everyone is a hands-on contributor to our success. We're looking for grounded professionals who thrive on ownership, are comfortable creating clarity out of ambiguity, and enjoy finding creative solutions to complex problems.

If you have a background in freelancing or contracting, you'll feel at home. We want to meet people with strong interpersonal skills who can take the lead and advocate for their ideas while taking priorities and feedback into account. Given the dual nature of our business, you should be comfortable working closely with both our consulting and SaaS product delivery teams, and with external clients and internal software engineers alike.

We believe work should be measured by outcomes and impact, not just outputs. In exchange for your expertise, we offer genuine professional freedom to pursue your ideas in a results-oriented environment. We offer a flexible working environment that gives you the autonomy to organise your own schedule and maintain a sustainable work-life balance.

The Role

We're seeking a technically capable Mid-Level (or above) Python Data Analyst to help our consulting team report on client sales performance from a recently developed OLAP cube environment. You'll hold partial, shared responsibility for the end-to-end data lifecycle across the OLAP infrastructure and data engineering.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Day to day, the core of the role will involve working with our client-facing consulting team to design and deliver client data reports and dashboards, partner with a DevOps engineer to build and deploy robust ETL pipelines, and maintain the integrity of our analytical schemas. You'll also work closely with our backend engineering team to productionise data flows that give clients precise, actionable insights.

A critical part of this role is recognising that sensitive client data needs different security policies and lifecycles from our public proprietary data sets. You'll advocate for strong data governance and security protocols with the Engineering team who build the infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a Python and SQL specialist, ideally with some understanding of data engineering, who enjoys delivering unique insights through ETL and cares deeply about data quality in a scaling SaaS environment. We anticipate that as the core tasks gradually become automated, you'll want to explore other high value technological solutions to stretch your skills and deliver increasing value.

What you'll do (core responsibilities)

  • BI dashboarding: build custom client sales and strategic dashboards in Metabase, Apache Superset or similar. You'll be glad to know we do not run Microsoft products.
  • Python and SQL delivery: manipulate data, automate workflows, and support backend data processing using Pandas, NumPy and similar libraries.
  • Design analytical schemas: create optimised data models (for example, star schemas) for customer-facing consulting and reporting.
  • Internal tooling: build and maintain automated tools that let the consulting team run self-serve, ad-hoc queries.
  • Data quality assurance: produce data quality reports that directly steer and improve schema design.
  • Consulting collaboration: allocate roughly 20 to 30 percent of your bandwidth to supporting the delivery of live consulting projects and client needs.

Where you can grow (stretch opportunities)

This is not a pure reporting or dash-boarding role. As your capacity allows, we'd love you to take on more. Being a high-growth startup, the role offers ample opportunity to grow and get involved across the business, limited only by your appetite and motivation.

  • Data architecture: contribute to design decisions on the product's data structure and flow, and help shape the wider OLTP core data estate.
  • Semantic layer and modelling: help manage the semantic layer and optimise dbt and Cube models so our analytical schemas stay performant and robust.
  • Consulting solutions: help shape unique consulting delivery proposals alongside the team.
  • Mentorship and training: help budding pythonista consulting analysts write modular, reusable Python.
  • AI and advanced data models: help design and deliver AI processing and new data models, including graph data models we plan to adopt for some data sets.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Python and SQL: strong, proven proficiency for data manipulation, automation and backend data processing.
  • BI tooling: hands-on experience with Metabase, Apache Superset or a comparable non-Microsoft BI tool.
  • OLAP data modelling: knowledge and experience of OLAP-related schemas, such as star schemas.
  • Notebooks: strong experience using Jupyter or Colab for prototyping and sharing ideas.
  • Data quality mindset: a genuine care for data quality in a scaling SaaS environment.

Desirable

  • Data engineering: an understanding of ETL design and productionising data flows.
  • Postgres depth: experience with Postgres syntax and extensions such as geospatial, pgvector, postgis and tlsh_pg (Trend Micro Locality Sensitive Hash).
  • Semantic layer tooling: experience with dbt and Cube.
  • Knowledge graphs: understanding of data architectures that harness graph data models and datastores.
  • Healthcare domain: interest in or experience with healthcare CRM or sales execution data.

Salary between £40,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
