πŸš€ Senior Python Developer – Data Integrations & APIs | Public Sector | Up to Β£470/day (Inside IR35)

We're hiring a Senior Python Developer to join a new integrations squad on a major UK public sector programme, building robust data flows and APIs that connect operational systems, analytics platforms, and business intelligence services.

You'll act as the primary technical interface between downstream digital teams and the core data platform team, working closely with Technical Architects, Data Engineers and Digital product teams to accelerate delivery of strategic data capabilities.

πŸ“ Location: Leeds, Sheffield or London (hybrid β€” travel flexibility dependent on team)
πŸ’° Rate: Up to Β£470/day, Inside IR35
πŸ”’ Clearance: Active SC clearance required, or strong confidence of obtaining it
⚠️ Essential: Prior experience working within UK Government or wider public sector is required

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and building scalable automated data flows and APIs connecting operational systems, analytics and BI platforms
  • Designing and writing ETL (extract, transform, load) scripts and code for optimal performance
  • Recognising opportunities to reuse and re-engineer data flows for scaling and repeatable use
  • Working with data users to translate their needs into technical requirements
  • Using a range of AWS services to deploy solutions in a reproducible, sustainable way
  • Using Infrastructure as Code to deploy AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Developing and optimising code, tools and services that enable effective data use
  • Designing pipelines and services with observability, resilience and operational support in mind
  • Contributing to daily support rota management of existing services and pipelines

  • βœ… Strong technical skills in Python and SQL, ideally within a team already using both
  • βœ… Strong experience across the software development lifecycle β€” testing (e.g. pytest), version control (e.g. Git), CI/CD (e.g. GitHub Actions)
  • βœ… Confident working with a range of data sources β€” data wrangling, analysis and manipulation
  • βœ… Strong communication skills β€” translating user needs into technical requirements for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • βœ… Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams
  • βœ… Previous UK Government or public sector experience essential
