Senior Python Developer

Python Application Development & AWS

Location: UK (Remote)
Contract Type: Outside IR35
Start Date: November 2026
Rate: Dependent on Experience
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance is required
Eligibility: Candidates must be based in the UK and hold the right to work in the UK.

Overview

A leading technology consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to join a high-profile digital transformation programme. This role focuses on the design, development and enhancement of modern, cloud-based applications, with Python serving as a core technology across both backend and middleware services.

This is a software engineering position requiring an individual with substantial experience building production-grade applications rather than data science or analytics-focused solutions. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of application architecture, API development, cloud technologies, testing and modern engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain robust Python applications and services within a modern cloud environment.
  • Develop backend and middleware components including business logic, integrations and RESTful APIs.
  • Support the integration of front-end applications with backend services to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable and reusable software solutions.
  • Design and implement secure, high-performing APIs and enterprise integrations.
  • Develop solutions that interact with databases, third-party services and internal business systems.
  • Build, deploy and support application components within AWS environments.
  • Develop comprehensive automated tests to ensure quality, stability and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration and performance issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, documentation and best practices.
  • Work closely with architects, testers, product owners and other developers within agile delivery teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
