Waracle Senior QA Engineer Opportunity
Waracle is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our world-class digital technology consultancy. Our community is diverse, smart, curious, and ambitious, working with clients to solve their biggest business and customer challenges. We help create intelligent digital products and services, thriving on complex challenges and delivering business-critical IT transformation projects.
We offer a hybrid setup, asking you to collaborate in person 2 days a week from either our Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee offices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Senior QA Engineer, you will:
- Operate as a trusted quality champion, guiding engineering teams to define QA approaches for complex features and implementing scalable automation frameworks.
- Lead collaborative defect triage sessions, design automated non-functional tests (NFRs), and help teams establish smart test data strategies.
- Foster engineering growth through constructive code reviews and collaborate closely with developers to make our systems naturally easier to test.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Shaping testing approaches for complex features, embedding risk analysis into the workflow, and guiding exploratory testing efforts.
Framework Architecture
- Building and evolving modular, reusable, and scalable automation components, and seamlessly integrating quality checks into CI/CD pipelines.

NFR Integration
- Designing and automating tests for performance, security, and accessibility to ensure quality is built-in from the very start.
Mentorship & Growth
- Supporting and mentoring other QAs to help them grow their skills, and providing encouraging, constructive feedback through peer code reviews.
Community & Inclusion
- Leading QA knowledge-sharing sessions and owning community initiatives such as accessibility or regression standards.
What you'll bring:

- Automation Expertise: Proven track record as a Senior QA Engineer with a deep understanding of test automation strategy and setup.
- Mobile Testing Mastery: Extensive, hands-on experience building and scaling mobile automation suites across iOS and Android from the ground up.
- Automation Toolkit: Hands-on experience working with mobile automation frameworks such as Appium, Detox or Maestro, along with Postman for API testing.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Proficiency with Git and experience integrating automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions).
- Relationship & Communication Skills: The ability to balance speed, quality, and risk while building trusted partnerships and managing client stakeholder expectations with empathy and clarity.
