Senior Health, Safety & Facilities Advisor

We're seeking an experienced QHSE professional to lead health, safety, quality, and environmental initiatives within our fast-paced warehouse operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive continuous improvement, influence positive change, and work closely with teams across the business to raise standards and deliver operational excellence.
Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Senior Health, Safety & Facilities Advisor to join our shared-user site in Merlin Park, Birmingham. You will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Facilities management systems across the Merlin Park operation. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies, while driving continuous improvement initiatives and promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability.
Promoting and driving a culture of safety engagement in line with the Road to Zero philosophy and improving performance through the implementation of relevant management systems, current standards, and legislation; maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by the identification and control of risks, leading to the prevention of accidents and causes of work-related ill health.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Facilities systems, ensuring compliance with ISO standards, legal requirements, and company policies
- Conduct internal audits, support external audits, and monitor key QHSE performance indicators, helping drive continuous improvement and successful certification outcomes
- Promote a positive safety culture by supporting risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions across the site
- Lead and support environmental and sustainability initiatives, including the collection and reporting of ESG data, while contributing to the delivery of safety inductions and operational training programmes
- Act as a key point of contact for facilities management, coordinating maintenance activities, managing contractor compliance and permits to work, and responding effectively to site issues and emergencies to ensure a safe and compliant working environment

Requirements
- Proven experience leading Health & Safety within a large-scale logistics, warehousing, or 3PL operation
- NEBOSH General Certificate qualified, with IOSH membership (or equivalent professional body membership); contractor management and permit-to-work experience would be advantageous
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing contractors, permits to work, and compliance processes
- Proactive, organised, and detail-focused, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities

- You’ll be paid a salary of up to £40,000.00 per annum
- You’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday–Friday, 08:00 – 16:00. Flexibility will be required to support peak periods and the evolving needs of a new operation - this is logistics after all!
