Senior QA Automation Engineer
Location: Remote (Occasional trip to their London office)
I’m working with a growing technology business looking to hire a Senior QA Automation Engineer into a newly created role following continued expansion of their engineering and QA function.
This is a highly technical, hands-on position for someone who has built test automation frameworks from scratch, rather than simply worked with or maintained existing frameworks. You’ll work closely with Development, DevOps and QA, helping drive automation and shift-left testing across a predominantly C# cloud microservices environment.
What you'll be doing
You’ll take ownership of significant areas of test automation including:
- Designing and building test automation frameworks from scratch
- Taking existing manual testing and automating it
- Testing C# cloud-based microservices products
- Building and maintaining automated functional and non-functional tests
- Working with xUnit, Playwright, and Swagger
- Carrying out exploratory testing
- Working with fuzz/fuzzing testing and chaos testing
- Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Working closely with developers to improve testability and quality earlier in the development lifecycle
- Helping shape the overall test automation strategy and approach
- Using AI tools, including Claude, as part of day-to-day QA and development work
- Identifying opportunities to improve test coverage, reliability, and feedback times

What we're looking for:
The key requirement is someone who can demonstrate that they have personally designed and built automation frameworks from the ground up.
You'll ideally have strong experience with:
- Building test automation frameworks from scratch
- C#
- Testing cloud-based microservices
- xUnit
- Playwright
- Swagger / API testing
- Automating previously manual test processes
- Exploratory testing
- Fuzz/fuzzing testing
- Chaos testing
- CI/CD and modern DevOps environments
- Using AI tools such as Claude within your day-to-day QA, automation, or software development work

This isn't a traditional manual QA position. We're looking for someone technically strong who enjoys coding, automation, and solving complex testing problems, while still understanding the fundamentals of exploratory and manual testing.
