The role

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring quality, compliance and continuous improvement across submarine support and engineering services. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll provide independent assurance and expert guidance across production, project and supply chain activities, helping to maintain the highest standards of safety, performance and operational excellence.

Day-to-day, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to develop your career within the defence and engineering sector, supporting programmes that are critical to national security. You'll work with a broad range of stakeholders, influence quality performance across major projects and help shape quality culture throughout the business.

  • Conducting product, process and supplier audits to verify compliance with quality management systems and customer requirements.
  • Supporting quality assurance activities across projects, production operations and supply chain partners.
  • Identifying quality risks, non-conformances and improvement opportunities, and driving effective corrective actions.
  • Reviewing quality documentation, specifications, quality plans and quality records to ensure compliance and governance requirements are met.
  • Providing professional quality advice and assurance to project teams, suppliers, customers and key stakeholders.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Experience in Quality Assurance within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experience conducting product, process and supplier audits.
  • Experience identifying non-conformances and managing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance activities across projects, manufacturing, operational environments or supply chains.

Qualifications for the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Essential

  • IRCA Certified Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Relevant Level 5 qualification recognised professional status, or significant experience within a relevant engineering or scientific discipline supported by a Level 4 qualification.

Preferred

  • Additional qualifications or professional development in quality management, engineering, auditing or continuous improvement disciplines.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
