Gresham
Gresham is a global financial services technology company specialising in enterprise data automation. We help financial institutions ensure that their operational, regulatory and management data is complete, accurate, timely and fully auditable — particularly within complex environments where data is distributed across multiple systems.
Our solutions automate data controls, reconciliations, workflows and exception management, enabling clients to reduce operational risk, strengthen data governance and enhance confidence in reporting across highly regulated environments. Serving both buy-side and sell-side organisations worldwide, Gresham partners with clients to deliver trusted, transparent and resilient data operations.
Job Purpose
The Development team at Gresham is responsible for identifying, building and maintaining innovative technologies that solve our customers’ Control, Connect, Data and EDM problems. As a Senior QA Engineer in our Control team, you help us deliver the highest possible quality for our financial reconciliation and payments platform, embedding quality into every stage of development – from design and implementation through to release – and working closely with engineers, Product and key stakeholders while maintaining a strong customer focus.
This is a hands-on, automation-focused role. You will design, build and own automated test suites across our APIs, services and React front end, lead our performance testing, and help the team ship faster and with confidence by making testing a continuous, shared part of how we work rather than a stage at the end. You will also play a leading part in adopting AI tools across our testing practice. Our platform is cloud-native and multi-tenant, built with Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, React and TypeScript, and runs on Docker and Kubernetes in AWS with PostgreSQL.
Key Responsibilities
- Working within a high performing, interdisciplinary team of engineers, a product manager and architect, getting involved from kickoff in designing and scoping features, identifying risk early and shaping acceptance criteria and BDD scenarios
- Designing, building and maintaining automated tests at the right levels – API, integration, contract and end-to-end UI – and integrating them into our CI/CD pipelines so every change gets fast, reliable feedback
- Owning the team’s test automation frameworks and tooling, keeping tests fast, stable and maintainable, and tackling flaky tests and gaps in coverage
- Leading performance, load and scalability testing: defining realistic scenarios and data volumes, running tests, analysing results and working with engineers to diagnose and resolve bottlenecks
- Reviewing pull requests with a quality lens – test coverage, testability, edge cases and risk – helping engineers write better tests and sharing the review load across the team
- Championing the use of AI tools in testing – for example AI-assisted test generation, test data creation and failure analysis – and helping the team adopt them effectively and responsibly
- Defining and evolving the team’s test strategy and quality metrics, making quality visible and driving continuous improvement
- Carrying out targeted exploratory testing of complex or high-risk changes, and raising clear, well-evidenced defects
- Building and managing realistic test data and environments, including for multi-tenant and high-volume scenarios
- Supporting regular releases with confidence checks on key features, and participating in the triage of issues reported by customers, working with the Customer Support team
- Considering security and data privacy in all testing, with due concern for compliance with adopted standards (PCI, ISO27001)
- Coaching and mentoring engineers in testing practices, so that quality is owned by the whole team
- Fully participating in the relevant Agile events; planning and estimation, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
