About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Consultant to join Opencast Software. In this pivotal role, you will lead and influence quality assurance practices across multiple projects, ensuring that high standards are maintained from inception through delivery. You will work on both public and private sector initiatives, often taking on a leadership position as a lead software quality engineer. Your responsibilities will include:
- Guiding teams through complex testing scenarios
- Advocating for best practices
- Collaborating closely with clients, stakeholders, and development teams

- Current or eligibility for UK Security Check (SC) Clearance
- UK citizenship and a minimum of five years of continuous residence in the UK
- Proven experience working as a lead tester, with a deep understanding of automation testing, test documentation, and defect management
- Proficiency in tools such as Playwright with Typescript, along with a solid grasp of programming paradigms like object-oriented and procedural programming
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to challenge and resolve complex issues
Desirable qualifications include:
- Familiarity with UK government service standards
- A proactive approach to risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement
Responsibilities
As a Senior Quality Assurance Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading testing efforts across multiple projects
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Promoting best practices within teams
- Acting as a role model and mentor to junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
- Defining testing strategies, creating comprehensive test documentation, and executing functional and non-functional automation testing using tools like Playwright with Typescript
- Analyzing and resolving complex issues, presenting findings to stakeholders
- Ensuring that all work aligns with client and company policies, including security, environmental, and quality standards
- Overseeing defect triage processes
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to select appropriate testing tools and technologies
- Supporting the development of high-quality deliverables from high-level requirements
- Guiding teams through challenges, managing risks, and ensuring successful project delivery
