Senior QA Engineer | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Fully Remote
I'm hiring a Contract Senior QA Engineer to join a major new data engineering programme, taking ownership of quality across a high-volume, data-intensive platform.
Our client is building a data management system that takes continuous, high-volume data from multiple sources into a central platform. You’ll be hands-on validating the streaming pipelines, the data moving through them, and the evidence trail behind it. You’ll own the QA strategy across the data engineering lifecycle, from ingestion and streaming through to secure deployment, assurance, and formal customer sign-off.
Key Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience testing high-volume Kafka streaming/data pipelines
- Strong Apache Kafka experience, including topics, schemas, and message validation
- Experience testing continuous data ingestion, ETL/ELT, and data transformations
- Strong understanding of data quality and schema validation, using Avro, Protobuf, JSON, or similar
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark for test automation and validation
- Experience testing data across lakehouse, data platforms, or downstream stores
- Strong experience defining QA strategy, test coverage, and quality gates
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and investigating complex defects
- Proven ability to produce detailed, audit-ready test evidence for assurance and customer sign-off
- SC Clearance held or willingness to undergo, with a hands-on approach rather than simply directing testing

Contract Details:
- Fully Remote
- £450–£550/day, Outside IR35
- 6-month contract
- SC Clearance ideally, but SC eligibility is a must-have
- ASAP start
This is a data engineering QA role, not a traditional application or UI testing position. If you’re an SC-cleared Senior QA Engineer with genuine hands-on experience testing high-volume Kafka and streaming data pipelines, and you’ve worked in environments where data quality and formal assurance really matter, I’d be keen to hear from you.
