Contract Details

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours of work: 38 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: 07:00 – 15:30, Monday to Friday (with occasional bank holiday working)
  • Location: Fazila Foods, Britannia Business Park, 27 Waters Meeting Rd, Britannia Way, Bolton BL2 2HH

About the Role

In this role, you will support the Site Technical Manager in maintaining the Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring products are manufactured safely, legally and in accordance with customer requirements. The Senior QA Technician will lead day-to-day quality assurance activities, promote a positive food safety culture, drive continuous improvement and deputise for the Site Technical Manager when required.

What You Can Expect to be Doing

  • Carry out routine quality assurance checks throughout production to ensure compliance with food safety, quality and legal requirements.
  • Verify CCPs, GMP, hygiene, allergen controls, metal detector checks and production records.
  • Conduct internal audits, including GMP, hygiene, fabrication, glass & brittle plastic, traceability and housekeeping.
  • Monitor product quality, weights, labelling, coding, packaging and shelf-life requirements to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Investigate customer complaints, internal non-conformances and quality issues, completing root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Trend customer complaints, microbiological results, environmental monitoring and quality data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support microbiological sampling, environmental monitoring, calibration, verification and validation activities.
  • Assist with customer, third-party and regulatory audits, ensuring the site maintains audit readiness at all times.
  • Train, coach and support QA Technicians and production staff in GMP, food safety and quality standards.
  • Promote a positive food safety and quality culture throughout the business.
  • Deputise for the Site Technical Manager during periods of absence, providing day-to-day technical support and ensuring the effective operation of the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level of the role, as requested by the Site Technical Manager or Senior Management.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Quality Assurance role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety legislation and quality management systems.
  • Experience working to BRCGS, SALSA or equivalent food safety standards.
  • Experience investigating customer complaints and managing CAPA.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Level 3 HACCP and Food Safety qualifications.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience within chilled and/or frozen food manufacturing.
