Senior QA Testing Engineer
Salary: £55,000–£60,000
Location: UK

We are currently representing a global technology business that develops software solutions designed to create safer, more productive and effective digital environments.
Working across education and wider organisations internationally, the business provides technology covering areas such as online safety, remote access, web filtering, monitoring and digital learning. Their products are used by schools, organisations and businesses across more than 90 countries.
As the company continues to grow and develop its technology offering, they are looking for an experienced Senior QA Testing Engineer to join their Engineering team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on Senior QA position where you will be responsible for both testing software and helping shape the wider QA approach across the business.
You will work closely with Developers, Product Managers and other teams to identify potential issues, develop effective testing strategies and ensure products are reliable, secure and perform as expected.
You will also have the opportunity to improve testing processes, introduce automation and help develop QA standards across the Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test strategies and test plans for new features, updates and product releases.
- Analyse requirements and technical designs to identify potential quality risks.
- Create, maintain and execute detailed test cases.
- Carry out functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory and performance testing.
- Test web applications across different operating systems and platforms.
- Identify, document and track software defects through tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Work closely with developers to investigate issues, identify root causes and validate fixes.
- Design, develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites.
- Identify opportunities to improve QA through automation, tooling and better processes.
- Configure and troubleshoot test environments.
- Carry out performance and load testing to assess scalability and reliability.
- Contribute to product security, stability and resilience through effective testing.
- Support release readiness and provide feedback on product quality and risk.
- Help improve QA standards, processes and documentation across the business.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the QA team.

About You
- 5+ years' professional experience in software QA/testing.
- Strong experience testing web applications and software products.
- Experience across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and automation practices.
- Experience with performance and/or load testing.
- Strong understanding of different software testing methodologies.
- Good understanding of networking, internet security and Linux command-line tools.
- Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience taking ownership of QA activities and contributing to test strategy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience mentoring or supporting other QA team members.

Desirable
- Experience within EdTech, e-learning, cybersecurity, networking, remote access or web filtering.
- Knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, Google Groups, DNS or Group Policy.
- Knowledge of VMware or Proxmox.
- Experience with AWS or Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- API testing experience.
- Database testing and SQL experience.
- Mobile application testing experience.
