We’re looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to help shape how we build quality into everything we deliver. If you're passionate about modern engineering practices, automation, API testing, non-functional testing, and embedding quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle, this is an opportunity to make a real impact across our technology landscape.
This role operates to ensure quality is engineered into our products and platforms from the outset. You will work closely with engineering teams to improve system testability, automation, observability, and release confidence, while driving the adoption of modern engineering practices that enable the rapid delivery of secure, reliable and scalable software.
As a senior member of the Quality Engineering community, you'll also provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to colleagues, helping to shape testing strategies, grow engineering capability, and drive continuous improvement across our products and platforms, tooling, and ways of working.

Quality Engineering plays a key role in ensuring quality is engineered into our products and platforms. By championing automation, testability, and continuous quality practices, the function supports the delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient software. Some of the key areas of responsibly include:
- Supporting the delivery of modern Quality Engineering practices that embed testing within CI/CD pipelines and supports fast, reliable software delivery.
- Driving improvements across engineering performance metrics such as lead time, automation coverage, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and defect escape rates
- Championing shift-left practices including functional, performance, resilience, and security testing within automated delivery pipelines
- Collaborating with engineering, architecture, and product teams to define quality strategies, standards, and approaches that support the delivery of resilient and maintainable software.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks and quality engineering solutions across web, mobile, API, and a Core Banking platform using technologies including Playwright, Appium, Selenium, C#, Java, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Postman, performance testing tools, and monitoring platforms.
- Working closely with the engineering community to improve testability, observability, and quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentoring and supporting Quality Engineers and wider engineering teams, helping to build capability and promote shared ownership of quality

We work in a hybrid way, balancing flexibility with collaboration. For this role, you'll typically spend three days a week in our Skipton office, with the remaining two days working from home.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, or similar role within a modern engineering environment.
- Strong hands-on experience in test automation, API testing, non-functional testing, and embedding quality within CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
- Experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks and integrating automated testing within delivery pipelines.
- Experience working with cloud-based systems, distributed architectures, and modern software delivery models.
- Strong understanding of quality engineering principles, including shift-left testing, testability, observability, resilience, and performance testing.
- Ability to use data and metrics to drive improvements in quality, performance, and delivery outcomes
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders.
- Passion for continuous improvement, mentoring others, and championing a culture of shared quality ownership.
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification, or equivalent experience demonstrating a strong understanding of software testing and quality engineering principles
