Description
Impact Recruitment are working with a client to recruit an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You'll be working within a high-quality precision engineering and automotive manufacturing environment, supporting world-class OEM programmes and working closely with customers, suppliers, production, engineering, and quality teams.
Role Purpose
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll act as the technical and quality interface between the business, its customers, and suppliers. You'll take ownership of quality delivery across assigned programmes, from APQP and PPAP submission through to production launch and ongoing supplier performance. The role will involve managing customer and supplier quality issues, leading root cause investigations, supporting new programme launches, and ensuring quality standards are consistently maintained.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
Location: Daventry, Northamptonshire

Responsibilities
- Act as the quality contact for assigned OEM customers and suppliers, managing technical communication, quality concerns, non-conformances, concessions, and corrective actions.
- Lead structured root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and other problem-solving techniques to identify and prevent repeat issues.
- Manage APQP, PPAP and PSW activities across live programmes, ensuring quality documentation, approvals and submissions are completed to the required standards.
- Manage supplier quality performance, including supplier audits, technical discussions, risk identification, non-conformance resolution and corrective actions through to closure.
- Support new supplier and project development, including capability and capacity reviews, supplier readiness, trial runs, first-off inspections, process validation and tooling sign-off.
- Ensure quality activities and processes are carried out in accordance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements, including KPI reporting and maintaining product, process and system quality.
- Provide hands-on measurement support when required, including first-off and last-off inspections using FARO CMM equipment, developing measurement programmes and applying GD&T and appropriate datum strategies.
- Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams, maintaining a hands-on presence on the production floor and at customer or supplier sites. The role will also involve using FactoryMaster MRP for fundamental tasks such as releasing and rejecting parts.

- Previous experience working in Quality within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
- Experience with automotive core tools including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP.
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis techniques, including 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques, ideally including FARO CMM equipment, measurement programmes and datum strategy.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T, along with a good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively across production, engineering, quality, customer and supplier teams.
- Must be flexible and willing to travel to customer and supplier sites when required.
- Full UK driving licence is required.
