Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day activities associated with the product NPI life cycle and product design and development.

To plan and coordinate quality activities and improvement programmes. To support the development and design quality assurance to relevant international standard(s) and meet or exceed Thompson Aero Seating customer needs. Ensure new products are developed & introduced in accordance with APQP Responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in ensuring design quality, daily monitoring and reporting of issues within NPI process.

Responsibilities

  • To work in accordance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • To establish policies, procedures, work instructions and technical documentation (relating to all aspects of new products including verification and validation to meet TAS and regulatory requirements as well as ongoing maintenance ensuring procedural and regulatory compliance.
  • Support D&E in the development of the inspection methodology and acceptance criteria for sampling plans, including the incoming, in-process, final, and validation sampling plans as part of the design development process.
  • Support the compliant and timely design & development, testing, verification, validation, configuration, and life cycle management of new products
  • Provide support and assistance to design and engineering team in development and execution of corrective actions
  • Lead/participate in quality system and/or process audits in TAS as needed
  • Represent the business with customers and regulatory authorities with the objective of inspiring confidence and ensuring support in the quality of products and services provided
  • Work as part of a cross functional team IPT, following APQP, influence the design, supply chain and build process to ensure the required quality standard can be achieved on a repeated basis
  • Develop the quality requirements for new/development programs, and work with the customer to achieve agreement and approvals while supporting program milestone events
  • Support daily business processes such as Change and Material Review Board’s
  • Clear communication (both verbally and orally) to all levels within the organisation

Requirements

Essential

  • 3+ year’s relevant Quality Engineering experience in a Design/NPI Engineering environment
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D aerospace quality standard
  • In depth knowledge of Design quality assurance principles, tools and techniques
  • Experience working with customers, regulators and suppliers
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering or manufacturing
  • Certified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor AS9100, ISO 9001
  • Effective motivational, coordination, and communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative to achieve targets
  • Confidence and ability to work with and earn the trust of regulatory bodies
  • Possess strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and Part 21G

Desirable

  • Experience of APQP
  • Working knowledge of Airbus and or Boeing systems and processes
