Senior Quality Inspector – Aviation Engineering Centre

Role ID: SF20212

Package: Competitive Salary + Benefits

Are you ready to be part of the future?

At QinetiQ, we’re not just imagining it—we’re creating it. From revolutionary defence technology to ground-breaking aerospace innovations, our mission is to empower and protect lives. Join us as a Senior Quality Inspector at our Boscombe Down site, where you’ll collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry, working with cutting-edge technology to drive tomorrow’s breakthroughs.

About the Role

As a Senior Quality Inspector, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across electrical, mechanical components, and assemblies, partnering with our Aviation Engineering Centre (AEC) team to deliver compliant products to all customers.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you’ll own the sustainment of product quality across all production activities while ensuring full adherence to regulatory requirements. Your work will be essential to maintaining CAA/EASA approvals and supporting continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and certify detailed parts and assemblies in full compliance with design data, work instructions, applicable standards, and regulatory documentation (e.g., PART 21G, AS9100).
  • Final sign-off of components and assemblies using:
    • Part 21 Form 1
    • AS9100 Certificate of Conformity (COFC)
  • Maintain, document, and review manufacturing records and test results.
  • Support closing actions and regulatory audits, including root-cause analysis of defects.
  • Provide critical input to the Production Manager in implementing continuous improvement plans and process optimisation.
  • Identify engineering deviations and raise queries-based on discrepancies against approved design data, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.

Essential Experience

You must demonstrate:

  • Proven knowledge of aviation industry regulations, with a Part 21G regulation background (CA and/or EASA).
  • Quality management experience within a highly regulated environment, preferably in aviation, aerospace, or defence.
  • Hands-on experience with premium and certified mechanical tests, including:
    • Hardness and conductivity measurements
    • Tensile tests
    • Heat treatment procedures
  • Competency in precision measurement using:
    • Standard measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
    • Digital and calibrated instruments
    • Software for test analysis and report generation
  • Quality auditing involvement, including managing action closures for non-conformance items.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
