Referment
Referment is working with a financial-markets technology business whose quantitative software helps major institutions analyse trading activity and market risk. Its products combine multi-asset pricing models, large-scale securities data and production-grade engineering.
This is a senior hands-on quantitative development role with responsibility for designing, building and validating pricing models. You will develop reusable pricing libraries, calculators and risk algorithms across multiple asset classes, while helping less experienced team members strengthen their technical and markets knowledge.
The role calls for someone who can connect mathematical modelling with the realities of trading and turn quantitative research into dependable software.
The Role
- Develop financial pricing libraries, calculators and risk- or pricing-related algorithms.
- Research market dynamics across multiple asset classes and translate the findings into practical models.
- Prototype, test and validate proprietary quantitative models before production use.
- Use a specialist large-scale data language to analyse and produce securities data.
- Build high-quality software that makes quantitative methods usable within production applications.
- Support and coach junior colleagues while remaining closely involved in modelling and development.
- Plan and prioritise quantitative projects to meet agreed delivery dates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
