About the Role

We’re working with a leading proprietary trading firm looking for a Senior Quantitative Researcher / Sub-PM to join their team and take significant ownership over research and trading ideas.

This is an environment where good research moves quickly into live trading. You’ll have access to strong technology, data and infrastructure, while working closely with traders and other researchers to develop, test and implement systematic strategies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Researching new sources of alpha across financial markets
  • Developing predictive models and systematic trading strategies
  • Working with large and alternative datasets to identify new signals and opportunities
  • Taking research from an initial hypothesis through rigorous testing and into production
  • Working closely with traders to understand market behaviour and translate research into live strategies
  • Owning your research agenda and having the freedom to pursue ideas you believe can generate alpha
  • Over time, taking greater ownership of strategies, risk and P&L

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Someone entrepreneurial who enjoys taking an idea from research through to implementation and live trading
  • For more senior profiles, experience taking ownership of strategies, risk or P&L would be highly relevant

Why it’s interesting:

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be maintaining an existing research book.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape the research agenda, develop your own ideas, work directly with traders and take increasing ownership of strategies and P&L.

For the right Senior QR, there is a clear opportunity to move beyond pure research and take on a broader Sub-PM-style remit, with greater responsibility for capital, risk and trading performance.

If you’re a Senior Quantitative Researcher looking for more ownership, faster feedback and a closer connection between research and trading, I’d be very interested in speaking
