An established and growing contractor specialising in commercial, leisure and education fit out and refurbishment projects is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.
This is a key role within the business, taking commercial responsibility for multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously, typically ranging in value from £200k to £2.5m and operating across 12-16 week programmes.
The successful candidate will have strong experience within the fit out and refurbishment sector and be confident managing projects through the complete commercial lifecycle, from procurement and pre-construction through to delivery, practical completion and final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial responsibility for multiple fit out and refurbishment projects.
- Manage projects from pre-construction and procurement through to practical completion and final account.
- Prepare project budgets, cost plans, cash flow forecasts and commercial reports.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, including tender enquiries, analysis, negotiation and placement of orders.
- Review subcontractor quotations and ensure packages are procured in line with project budgets and programmes.
- Prepare and manage client valuations, applications for payment and variations.
- Manage subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, profitability, risk and commercial performance throughout the contract.
- Identify, value and manage variations and changes to scope.
- Produce accurate cost/value reconciliations and project forecasts.
- Work closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers and site teams to ensure commercial and operational objectives are achieved.
- Attend client, subcontractor and internal commercial meetings.
- Ensure contractual notices and commercial documentation are issued correctly and within required timescales.
- Drive projects through to successful practical completion and final account agreement.

About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background working for a main contractor or specialist contractor delivering fit out and refurbishment projects.
You Will Need
- Proven experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong experience across commercial fit out and refurbishment.
- Experience managing projects valued between approximately £200k and £2.5m.
- Ability to commercially manage fast-paced 12-16 week programmes.
- Strong subcontractor procurement and negotiation experience.
- Excellent understanding of valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.
- Strong contractual and commercial awareness.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commercially driven approach.
- Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced contractor environment.

Please note, this is a fully office-based position and candidates must be comfortable working from the office five days per week.
