Senior Quantity Surveyor | Essex | Very Competitive Salary + Bonus, Car/Car Allowance & Pension

We are working in partnership with a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS with a strong background in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects and experience working with NEC4 contracts. You will play a key role in overseeing cost control, contract administration, and the commercial performance of complex infrastructure projects.

Role Overview:

The Lead Quantity Surveyor will manage all commercial aspects of large EPC substation projects, ensuring effective contract execution and cost management from tender stage through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead commercial and contractual management across the full project lifecycle, including both pre- and post-contract phases
  • Provide strategic input on tendering, contract selection, and budget planning with a focus on risk and contingency
  • Administer lump sum EPC and NEC contracts (Options A, C, and E) in line with best practice and compliance requirements
  • Oversee project cost control, cash flow forecasting, and preparation of financial reports
  • Manage variations, payment applications, and change control processes
  • Conduct contract risk reviews and support strong risk mitigation measures
  • Ensure commercial documentation is maintained accurately and consistently across project portfolios

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law, or a related discipline
  • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS, CIOB) is preferred
  • Extensive experience working on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of EPC and NEC4 contracts, particularly Options A, C, and E
  • Demonstrated capability in cost forecasting, procurement strategy, and commercial reporting
  • Effective communicator with excellent analytical and negotiation skills
