Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Aberdeen
Contract Length: 5 months (Dec 2026)

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. This role is essential for managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility, seeking to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

Job Purpose

Experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. They will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Responsibilities

Governance

  • Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities.

Commercial Management and Administration

  • Orders information and systematically checks data
  • Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
  • Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
  • Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
  • Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
  • Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
  • Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and report to senior project staff

Customer/Change Management

  • Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and stakeholder management
  • Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
  • Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
  • Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility

Procurement

  • Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes
  • Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy

Development, Recruitment and Retention

  • Supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members

About You

Essentials - The following qualifications or their equivalent are essential:

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
  • MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them
  • CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
