FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their Commercial team.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Role
Based at Beckton with hybrid working available, you will report directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and take responsibility for the commercial management of projects and work packages.
You will work closely with design, construction, supply chain and client teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually in line with business requirements.
Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities
- Undertake quantity surveying duties relating to the management of projects and work packages.
- Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control project costs.
- Work collaboratively with the client to ensure business and project requirements are achieved.
- Manage the main contract, ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and issued as required.
- Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
- Assist with the management and performance of subcontractors.
- Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
- Prepare project cost and value reports, budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with the management, development and mentoring of junior commercial staff.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure all contractual and financial information is managed effectively.
- Ensure your own continuous professional development through external networking, conferences, professional associations and industry groups, keeping up to date with industry changes and innovations.
- Maintain a positive and solution-focused approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
- Ensure all internal and external relationships are maintained professionally and positively, supporting constructive and beneficial working partnerships.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, training or hours of work consistent with the level of responsibility of the role.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Working towards or holding Chartered Membership of a recognised professional institution.
- Proven experience within the utilities, civil engineering or MEICA sectors.
- Strong experience in Quantity Surveying and commercial management.
- Experience working with NEC3 contracts.
- Experience managing projects and work packages from a commercial perspective.
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, valuations and applications for payment.
- Experience managing subcontractors and subcontract documentation.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable
- Experience managing and developing an individual or small commercial team.
- Experience working with IChemE contracts.
- Working towards or holding Chartered Membership of a recognised professional institution.
- Experience within the water and wastewater sector.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial risk management.
