Senior Quantity Surveyor – RAF Lakenheath
Location: On-site (RAF Lakenheath)
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £60,000–£70,000

The Role
We seek an experienced, commercially-minded Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide expert commercial support across facilities management, property maintenance, and construction activities as part of the USVF contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the go-to commercial expert, advising on cost control, commercial governance, and ensuring project success for VIVO and its partners.
- Collaborate with operational teams, clients, supply chain partners, and commercial colleagues to:
- Provide cost advice and commercial risk management
- Ensure safe, efficient delivery in full compliance with contractual requirements
- Support cost modelling, work proposals, budget management, and value-for-money assurances across core services and Billable Works.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from planning, pricing, and execution to final accounts and post-contract cost monitoring.
- Maintain strong commercial control, tracking budgets, financial targets, and risk mitigation, while improving thought leadership and process efficiency.
- Drive monthly reporting, supply chain performance reviews, and data-driven insights to enhance commercial outcomes.
- Engage with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), stakeholders, and suppliers to:
- Clarify contract requirements
- Facilitate negotiations and commercial dispute resolution
- Build long-term, collaborative relationships
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, sustainability objectives, statutory obligations, and company procedures, including change management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies and best practices to elevate service delivery.

Travel is essential (regular trips across USVF sites), as is a valid UK driving licence and the ability to meet security clearance requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven *professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction, Property Maintenance, or Facilities Management.
- Deep expertise in commercial processes, cost management and control, contract administration, and risk mitigation.
- Skilled in developing cost models, preparing tenders, and managing project variations.
- Ability to multitask effectively, particularly in highly regulated or complex environments (e.g., defence, MOD contracts).
- Exceptional stakeholder management, *negotiation, and relationship-building with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Commercial acumen, problem-solving skills, and a knack for analytical problem-solving.
- Health/safety awareness, sustainability understanding, and familiarity with industry standards (e.g., collaborative working such as BS11000).

Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Experience within defence, MOD, or highly regulated environments.
- Qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
- Exposure to Supply Chain Performance Management or value improvement initiatives.
