Location: Coventry
Working Pattern: 3 days per week on site / 2 days from home
Contract: 18 months
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join a major highways project based in Coventry on an initial 18-month contract.

The role has become available following a permanent team member handing in their notice and will involve taking ownership of a significant package within a major highways scheme.

You will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the Walls Grey Package, valued at approximately £150-200 million, with around £20 million of works planned over the next 18 months.

The project has already delivered one scheme and is now moving into the second, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced SQS to take ownership of a substantial and commercially important package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take commercial ownership of the Walls Grey Package within the wider highways scheme.
  • Manage approximately £20 million of works over the next 18 months.
  • Manage subcontractors and oversee subcontract management throughout the package.
  • Provide strong commercial and contractual management across the project.
  • Manage and administer an NEC4 Option C contract, ensuring robust cost and commercial control.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, change, valuations, payments and commercial performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting and forecasting.
  • Manage compensation events, early warnings and other NEC contractual processes.
  • Work closely with project, engineering and delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure the package is administered effectively and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Provide experienced commercial leadership and support to the wider project team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
