Senior Quantity Surveyor

Burton upon Trent

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Central Commercial Team based in Burton upon Trent. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving commercial performance across a diverse portfolio of M&E projects, supporting business growth while protecting and enhancing profitability.

As a trusted commercial lead, you will work closely with operational, finance, and leadership teams, influencing key commercial decisions from tender stage through to final account. You'll have the opportunity to mentor colleagues, shape best practice across the business, and contribute to the continued success of a thriving organisation whilst developing your career further.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support contract reviews, negotiations, and documentation in line with governance requirements.
  • Manage contract terms, obligations, bonds, and warranties.
  • Provide commercial support throughout the tendering and bidding process, including risk assessment.
  • Protect stakeholder interests by ensuring governance procedures are followed.
  • Prepare and issue subcontract orders and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Support project teams with Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cost control, and profit improvement.
  • Manage variations, claims, and final accounts to maximise commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor work in progress, debt levels, and commercial performance across projects.
  • Support the resolution of contractual issues and disputes.
  • Mentor and develop operational teams, promoting strong commercial awareness and best practice.
  • Completion of contract documentation and support the Commercial Manager to undertake contract reviews and negotiations to align with governance requirements.

Skills, Experiences & Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent (desirable).
  • Professional membership of a relevant institution (desirable).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the M&E sector.
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, risk management, and commercial delivery.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships across teams.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and negotiation abilities.
  • Well-organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
