Senior Quantity Surveyor – Utilities & Infrastructure Framework (Glasgow)

About the Opportunity
Due to continued growth, Soben, part of Accenture, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Glasgow team, supporting the delivery of a major long-term infrastructure framework.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-performing commercial team delivering critical projects across the utilities and infrastructure sector. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in electrical transmission, power networks, utilities, renewable energy, or wider infrastructure projects.
Working closely with our client and key delivery partners, you will provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of projects, ensuring robust cost management, contract administration, change control, and commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Act as the commercial lead across a portfolio of infrastructure and utilities projects.
- Deliver effective commercial management from project inception through to close-out.
- Administer and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations and commercial procedures.
- Manage cost reporting, forecasting, risk management, and change control processes.
- Review and assess compensation events, early warning notices, variations, claims, and contractor applications for payment.
- Provide commercial and procurement advice to project teams and stakeholders.
- Lead contractor and supplier commercial discussions and negotiations.
- Work collaboratively with programme managers, project managers, planners, and technical delivery teams to support successful project delivery.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing proactive recommendations to mitigate risk and maximise value.
- Support tendering and procurement activities, including preparation of tender documentation, tender evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
- Prepare and present commercial reports to senior client stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate administration of NEC contracts and associated commercial processes.
- Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution, supporting the preparation of contractual positions when required.
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members to drive capability growth and professional development.

About You
We are looking for individuals who combine strong commercial expertise with a proactive, collaborative approach to project delivery.
Essential Experience
- Significant Quantity Surveying experience within infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, transportation, or major capital projects.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex, high-value contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong understanding and practical application of NEC contracts, particularly NEC3 and/or NEC4.
- Experience administering change management, compensation events, variations, and contractor accounts.
- Excellent commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong reporting, negotiation, and analytical capabilities.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent (preferred).
- Non-degree qualified candidates with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
- IOSH certification would be advantageous.
