Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Glasgow (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £70-85,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for multiple Senior Quantity Surveyors to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a major long-term project across Scotland. Whether you're an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or an established Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career, this position offers the chance to work on a high-profile infrastructure programme with excellent career progression opportunities.

Applications are welcomed from a wide range of sectors including civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, rail, highways, utilities, defence, energy, and manufacturing. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available, with both full-time and part-time applications considered.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects and ensuring financial objectives are achieved while supporting operational delivery teams. Key duties include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of allocated projects and workstreams.
  • Producing cost reports, forecasts, valuations, and financial reconciliations.
  • Managing variations, change control, and contractual matters.
  • Reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements and commercial terms.
  • Monitoring project costs, risks, and opportunities.
  • Preparing and supporting claims, applications, and commercial submissions.
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
  • Supporting commercial strategy development and project delivery objectives.

Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Assisting with procurement strategy and subcontract package management.
  • Managing tender enquiries, evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Supporting supply chain performance and value-driven outcomes.
  • Reviewing project programmes and construction methodologies to maximise commercial performance.

Leadership & Development

  • Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members.
  • Assisting in the development of Assistant and Graduate Quantity Surveyors.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practice across the commercial team.
  • Contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience managing commercial activities on construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially aware with excellent negotiation and analytical abilities.
  • Professional membership (or working towards) such as RICS, CIOB, or similar is advantageous.
