Role Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee cost management for painting, decorating, and related commercial and new build projects, ensuring financial control from tender through to final account. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Conducting cost planning and forecasting
  • Monitoring budgets

The role involves liaising with project managers, site teams, and clients to manage variations, assess valuations, and support contract negotiations. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also contribute to improving estimating and reporting processes and supporting junior team members.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage project finances using Cost Control and Cost Management skills.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing BOQ (Bills of Quantities) and related documentation.
  • Experience in structured Cost Planning for construction or fit-out projects.
  • Competence in producing accurate, timely Cost Reporting for stakeholders.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in commercial, new build, or specialist decorating projects within the UK construction industry.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and internal teams and to work effectively in a hybrid office/site/home environment.
