Your new company

Our client is a leading main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering major construction projects across Scotland. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth across the business, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to join at the very start of a prestigious £90million commercial new-build project in the heart of Edinburgh, which is now entering its pre-construction phase.

Your new role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial delivery of this major project from pre-construction through to completion. Working alongside an experienced project and commercial team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the project through the pre-construction phase, including procurement, package strategy, and commercial planning
  • Managing key subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account
  • Cost forecasting, reporting, and budget management
  • Managing variations, valuations, and contractual matters
  • Working closely with the wider project, design, and operational teams
  • Building strong commercial relationships with the client and supply chain
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
